The "TL;DR" for Builders
At Capybara (a product of Terminal Labs Inc.), we build tools to help you ship games faster, not to harvest your data. Here is the summary of how we handle your information:
- Your game is yours. We do not use your private game logic, proprietary code, or custom assets to train our base models.
- We do not sell your data. We make money through subscriptions and credits, not by selling your information to third parties.
- We use analytics to improve the "vibe." We use PostHog to see which features are used most and where people get stuck. This helps us prioritize what to build next.
- Secure Payments. All billing is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full credit card details.
- Transparent AI Processing. Some models are hosted by us; others (like specialized code generation) use industry-leading providers. In all cases, your data is processed to give you a result, not to train the providers' models.
1. Who We Are
Capybara.build is owned and operated by Terminal Labs Inc., a company incorporated in Canada. When we say "we," "us," or "our," we are referring to Terminal Labs Inc.
2. Information We Collect
- Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and basic profile information to manage your account and subscription.
- Usage Data (Telemetry): We use PostHog to collect anonymous statistics on how you use the platform (e.g., which models you trigger, export frequency, and dashboard navigation).
- Prompt and Input Data: To generate code, sprites, or maps, the prompts you provide are sent to our inference servers.
- Payment Data: Payment processing is handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your payment information as needed to process your subscription and credit top-ups.
3. How We Use AI Models
We use a hybrid approach to provide the best generation quality:
- Self-Hosted Models: For tasks like map and asset generation, we often use models hosted on our own secure infrastructure.
- Third-Party Models: For complex tasks like code generation or advanced LLM reasoning, we may use providers such as Anthropic or OpenAI.
- No Training Guarantee: We do not use your private inputs, generated code, or game assets to train our internal models or the models of our third-party providers.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Location: As a Canadian company, we comply with Canadian privacy standards. Your data may be processed on servers located in the United States or other regions depending on our infrastructure providers (e.g., AWS).
- In-Game Data: If you use our Live Services (Multiplayer, Auth, Database), we store the minimum data necessary to run your game. You retain full ownership of this data.
5. Third-Party Processors
We only share data with third parties necessary to provide our service:
- PostHog: For product analytics and improving user experience.
- Stripe: For secure payment processing and billing management.
- Inference Providers: To process your prompts and generate your requested assets/code.
6. Your Rights
Since we operate out of Canada, we respect your rights regarding your personal data. You may request to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify any inaccurate data.
- Request the deletion of your account and associated personal data.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we will notify you via the email associated with your account or through a prominent notice on capybara.build.
